2009 National Pageant Information
AREAS OF COMPETITION

Each of the delegates competing for a National American Dream title will compete in four
phases of competition:

1.        Interview - This category accounts for 40% of each delegate's total score. The seven
minute panel style interview is private with one delegate at a time with the distinguished panel
of five judges.  The most important element a titleholder must possess is the ability to
communicate clearly and with passion to her audience.  As an ambassador for  the American
Dream Pageant system, she must be articulate, intelligent,  confident and graceful.  She may
speak of her work or school experiences, hobbies, goals, dreams, or anything she wishes.
Before each delegate begins the interview, she will deliver a 30 second introduction stating her
name, local title, platform, and any information she wishes to share.  Attire for this segment
of competition is a business suit or appropriate dress. You’re interviewing for the “job” of an
American Dream titleholder; winners will be representatives and spokespersons for the
American Dream Pageant system.

2.        Fitness – This category accounts for 25% of each delegate's total score.  Scoring
emphasis is placed on presentation, poise, elegance and overall appearance of physical
fitness.  According to your competition category, you will be required to wear the following:

    a.        Swimsuit - Delegates in the Miss and Mrs. divisions are to appear in a swimsuit
to showcase your figure and dedication to physical fitness. Miss and Mrs. may chose
either a one or two piece suit.  No thongs, Rio back or high French cut suits will be
permitted.  Hose are optional, but they must be nude and blend in with your natural skin
color.  We ask that you wear heels with your swimsuit.

    b.        Aerobic Wear - Delegate in the Ms. and Lady divisions are to appear in aerobic
wear to showcase your figure and dedication to physical fitness. The aerobic wear may
be shorts, or long pants/tights/leggings. The tops may be cropped, bra-style, or full
length. We ask that you wear white sneakers with socks or peds with your outfit.

3.        Evening Gown - This category accounts for 25% of each delegate's total score. Attire
is floor-length, age appropriate gown of your choosing, which should compliment the
delegate's style, figure, and be well fitted.  This is the most elegant and glamorous portion of
the competition.  The value of the gown is not important; scoring emphasis is placed on the
grace, elegance and overall look of the delegate in the attire she chooses.

4.        On Stage Question -  This category accounts for 10% of your score.  Each delegate
will have one final opportunity to display their communication talents in this portion of
competition, which takes place in evening wear, immediately following evening gown
competition.  She will be asked a general question and expected to give a 30 second or less
response.  Scoring emphasis is placed on each delegate's ability to communicate in a live
setting in front of an audience, her confidence, speaking ability, and how she handles herself
under pressure.
